For more than 20 years, we have been exploring the world independently, planning every journey from the ground up. Over the years, we have visited more than 60 countries across several continents.
A few years ago, we left our jobs behind and set off on a year-long journey around the world with our two children. That experience taught us firsthand how to plan and manage long, complex adventures.
Southern Africa captured our hearts. We have crossed South Africa by car twice, explored Namibia on a self-drive 4x4 expedition, and travelled across Australia with a rooftop tent.
Self Drive Stories was born from our passion for independent travel and our desire to help others discover Namibia the same way we did – by car, at their own pace, and with the confidence that comes from good preparation.
Travel planning is not our full-time profession; we work in completely different industries. We do this because we genuinely love travel and enjoy sharing the knowledge and experience we have gained over the years.

Why Namibia?
Because it is one of the last places on Earth where travel still feels like a true adventure.
Namibia offers an extraordinary sense of freedom – vast open spaces, quiet roads, nights beneath a sky full of stars, and wildlife encounters far from the crowds.
It is a country made for self-drive travel. You can stop whenever you want, travel at your own pace, and wake up each morning in a completely different landscape – from the red dunes of the Namib Desert to the rugged Atlantic coastline and the incredible wildlife of Etosha National Park.
Yet Namibia is also far more accessible, safe and well-organised than many travellers expect before visiting Africa for the first time.
That unique combination of adventure, freedom and simplicity is what made us fall in love with it. It is also one of the most family-friendly destinations we have ever explored.

Who we are
Wojtek. The planner of the family. While Kasia dreams up destinations and fills Google Maps with pins, he figures out how to connect them all into one unforgettable journey. Always on the lookout for the best travel deals, he loves books, cars and spending time with his family.
Kasia. Always dreaming about the next adventure, she could happily travel to every corner of the world. While the landscapes are unforgettable, it is the people and their stories that fascinate her most. She is the family budget guardian, a devoted coffee and chocolate lover, and the one who always makes sure everyone is fed, comfortable and having a good time.
The kids. Our toughest travellers. They adapt surprisingly well to new places, long journeys and life on the road – though they would never turn down a hotel with a swimming pool. They can turn almost anything into an adventure and seem to find fun wherever they go. In the Trip Plans section, they share some of their favourite travel tips and ideas for fellow young explorers.
